INTRODUCTION

The 2nd International Conference on Recent Advances in Information Systems (ICRAIS 2026), organised jointly by the University of Oldenburg, Germany, and the University of Mauritius, provides an international forum for the presentation and discussion of contemporary research in information systems. Building on its inaugural edition, the conference will address recent advances and emerging themes in areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, and related technologies. ICRAIS 2026 will be held in a hybrid format, supporting both in-person and virtual participation, and will continues as an annual conference series following its first edition in Mauritius in September 2025..

SPECIAL TRACK: AI & MACHINE LEARNING

This track focuses on the latest developments and applications in Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Generative AI. We welcome contributions presenting both fundamental research and practical implementations across various domains.

Focus Areas

* Computer Vision: From image processing to object detection, instance segmentation or multiple object tracking

* Natural Language Processing: Text analysis, language processing, and multimodal systems

* Generative AI: Text-to-image, text-to-text, and multimodal generative models

Application Domains

The track covers various fields of application such as:

* Agriculture: Precision farming, harvest prediction, plant disease detection

* Education: Personalized learning, automated assessment systems, intelligent tutoring systems

* Industry: Quality control, predictive maintenance, process optimization

* Fundamental Research: Novel architectures, optimization methods, modeling approaches

While these are our primary areas of interest, submissions are not required to align strictly with any specific theme mentioned above. We encourage innovative approaches that may span multiple areas or introduce novel perspectives.

Methodological Focus

We particularly welcome contributions addressing cross-cutting methodological approaches such as:

* Federated Learning and Distributed Training

* Prompt Engineering and LLM Optimization

* Multi-task and Transfer Learning

* Explainable AI and Interpretability

* Green AI and Resource Efficiency

This track is aimed at researchers, developers, and practitioners who wish to share their insights and experiences from both academic research and industrial applications. We encourage exchange between different domains and welcome presentations of cross-domain solution approaches.

HYBRID CONFERENCE

This year’s conference will be conducted as a hybrid event, integrating face-to-face sessions with an online programme to support international participation.

PUBLISHER

All accepted papers will be included, in the book series “Progress in Information Systems” published by Springer. The book is indexed in Scopus.

WORKSHOP ON AI AND EDUCATION

Track Abstract: AI and Education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays an increasingly important role in the digital transformation of education across all learning stages, including school education, higher education, professional training, and lifelong learning. This track focuses on technical, algorithmic, and system-oriented perspectives on AI-based educational technologies, while explicitly considering pedagogical and didactical requirements. Contributions are invited that address the development, implementation, and evaluation of AI-driven methods and systems supporting learning, teaching, and assessment. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, machine learning and data-driven approaches for personalization and adaptation, learning analytics and educational data mining, intelligent tutoring systems, automated assessment, and AI-supported teacher assistance. The track also encourages research on cross-context learning scenarios and the transferability of AI solutions between educational domains, as well as on ethical, explainable, and trustworthy AI for education.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Instructions

* Authors are invited to submit original papers, which have not been published elsewhere and which are not currently under consideration for another journal or conference.

* Papers should have a minimum length of 10 pages and a maximum length of 16 pages, in the Springer 1-column format including the bibliography and any possible appendices. Extra page fees will apply for papers above 12 pages. Submissions longer than 16 pages will be rejected without review.

* Authors are requested to anonymise their papers before submission.

* All papers will be double-blind reviewed by at least two reviewers. The decision will be based on technical quality, relevance to scope of the conference, originality, significance, and clarity of the paper.
